Chapter 62 The Raid

Chapter 62 The Raid

The lights were off. Perfect. I could see in the dark instantly. No need to adjust. I quietly walked down the hall and saw that she was out on her balcony. Oh thank goodness.

This was going to be so much easier now.

The balcony door was open so I tiptoed through while her back was turned, grabbed her hand, and told Midas to fly us high into the air. Midas flew us about hundred meters in the air.

"Why are you doing this to me?" She said, acting all innocent, but also weirdly calm.

"Why did you kill Chad and his parents?" I asked. "Also why did you think a hitman would able to kill a guy you had already killed four times and still came back?"

"Because they were annoying. Because I didn't like living with them. Because I didn't like how connected they felt to me when I felt nothing for them. Because his mom tried to plan our engagement and our wedding. Like I was ever going to marry him!" She said.

"And I thought it might be like a ghost. If you killed him, maybe he would haunt you instead."

"Yeah, that's toxic behavior, but that's something you break up with someone for, not kill them," I said.

"Killing them seemed easier. I didn't want to see their tears or hear their guilt trips." She said.

"I acknowledge your perspective, but I fundamentally disagree with your decision. And for that, I'm sorry, but you must die," I said. "I can't be sure you won't kill again because someone else annoyed you."

"You're not going to drop me are you?" She gave me puppy dog eyes.

"No," I said.

"Oh, good," she seemed relieved.

"I'm going to break your neck," I said.

"No don—" She started to say, before I snapped her neck and flew down to my car, dropping her in the trunk. I drove to the drop off point.

There were people there too who were dressed in dark heavy Kevlar. Their faces were covered by helmets and reflective lenses. I drew my sword, Muramasa's Blood Fiend, and activated the Blood Draw ability. I extended the blade of my sword with blood manipulation and swung my sword diagonally at a group of armored people.

I cut three of them in half. Then I aimed my sword at different people and extended my blade into them repeatedly. It was like I was stabbing them with a spear from fifteen feet away.

Their bullets hit me but they did nothing to me. They simply bounced off my skin. I did a diving kick down the stairs at the line of people blocking the stairway. I knocked ten of them over and extended blood spikes in all directions from my body, stabbing each of them dozens of times.

I didn't actually have to use Blood Draw to have access to my blood. It was just when I pulled it directly out of my body, it ripped through the skin. That hurt like hell, so I didn't like to do it if I didn't have to, but I clearly had to here.

I grabbed one of the ice pills from my inventory, popped it in my mouth and swallowed it. Frost came from my breath. Johnny and I opened the backdoor and were surrounded by people with guns.

I looked at them and breathed at them from left to right. Blood mist poured out of my mouth and froze all the soldiers here.

"What the f*ck kid? How did you do that? And how did you do the thing with the sword?" Johnny said.

"We need to get out of here," I said. I grabbed onto Midas with one arm and Johnny with the other and we flew into the sky. Johnny started screaming at first, but he quickly got a hold of himself.

We touched down a few blocks away. "About that coin I asked you about. You did use back channels right?" I said.

"I may have used front channels. I don't remember," Johnny said, holding his side. I made his remove his hand. He was shot in the side and bleeding. A lot.

Since all of my problems were always solved with Vi, I tried that here. I poured Vi into the wound. I felt around with the Vi until I got a hold on the bullet. I extracted it.

Then I just poured as much Vi into the wound as I could. I could sense it healing faster than normal but not vampire fast. After a few minutes, it had stopped bleeding and he was in the early stages of recovery.

"You need to lay low for a while. Text me when you find a place and I'll come. I'm going back in there to see if I can save anyone," I said.

"Be careful, son," he said.

"I will, Dad. I will," I said.
