Chapter 142: The Blind Man Will Notice
Chapter 142: The Blind Man Will Notice
Those who are afraid of death will carry it on their shoulders.
Kairon wasn’t afraid of death. He was afraid of death arriving very soon.
He had to prove many people wrong.
He had to bite Zane Atlas.
He couldn’t accept his death at all. Not yet.
So he joined the people who were about to kill him.
His luck saved him.
But as long as the red heirloom was with him, his luck was on leave.
He didn’t know that yet.
After the binding with Coin and Leon, Kairon waited for the next steps.
The Emberlord went back to his chair and Leon sat on the table.
Diablo stayed at the door and Kairon was in front of Leon, silent.
Leon’s eyes stared at empty space as the man was deep in thought.
Silence stayed in the room until Coin broke it.
"What’s there to think about? Start hunting Zane Atlas."
Leon said nothing.
He eyed Kairon.
"You shall stay with Diablo."
He turned to Diablo.
"Wait for my next commands."
Diablo nodded.
Leon narrowed his eyes.
"You don’t mind him being with you, right? If yes, you can tell me."
Diablo shook his head.
"Anything you say, I will do it."
Leon smiled.
Genuine.
"That’s settled then."
The red haired man jumped off the table.
He placed his hand on Kairon.
"You shall join Diablo in the pursuit of Zane Atlas. No unnecessary action I want from you. Just follow what I say. Is that clear?"
Kairon nodded.
Leon patted his shoulder and turned to Coin.
"Then we are taking your leave, Emberlord."
Coin waved his hand and Leon turned towards the door.
Diablo opened it and the student left the office.
Then Diablo followed him and Kairon did the same.
But before Kairon could leave.
"Wait." Coin stopped him.
Kairon paused his steps.
"Take the lunchbox with you." Coin said, gesturing at the tiffin on his table.
Kairon frowned. "I am not hungry."
"It’s not for you. Take it and feed it some dogs. It was meant for one of them anyway."
Kairon saw no reason to refuse and took the lunch and then left the office as well.
Coin was left alone in the room and he finally liked his table.
The lunchbox made it look dirty.
He had washed his hands three times after he took it from Zane Atlas.
"Bastard wanted me to hand food to a filth who won’t even like it anymore."
He cursed everyone under his breath and rested his head at the back of his seat.
He closed his eyes and waited for the good news from Leon of Zane’s capture.
But he knew it would take time.
If Leon wanted the relic, he would wait for Zane to find it.
Only after Zane found it would he make his move.
"Rebellion, huh? First learn how to clean your ass."
He laughed and took a nap on the chair itself.
———
Unaware of the alliance made because of him, Zane focused on the matter of his weapon.
After mentioning he needed a weapon, he received confused looks but they also knew it made sense.
Not only Zane, everyone else needed a weapon too.
"Yes. You need a weapon. But before that, we need a plan of action." Jammy said.
Zane sighed.
"I am not the smartest. But I know some things that we need to do."
Everyone paid attention.
"I have insulted the Emberlord, the Enforcers and also taken all of the gutterborns with me. This act won’t be forgiven by them. They would want to kill me. They will keep an eye on me. They might do everything to make me not find the relic before three days. And if all of us roam around the city together, we are bound to be noticed even by a blind man."
Milo’s heart sank at the mention of Zane being killed.
Zane smiled at her and that calmed her down a bit.
"So because of that, we will not roam together. We will change our appearances. Our faces too if possible. No one should recognise us. The Wardens keep patrolling the areas and by now they must already be on the lookout for me."
"So what I hear from all this is that we need money." Xavier said.
Zane nodded.
"Yes. A lot of it. Each person should have a weapon of their own. New clothes. Some fake hair and beard. Food. Many things."
"How are we going to get so much money?" Tesla asked.
Xavier and Zane locked eyes.
They nodded.
Their gazes drifted to Tesla.
They stared.
They stepped towards him.
Tesla quivered his brows.
"What?"
"Empty your pockets." Xavier said.
"Wait. The hell? Why are you acting like a random pickpocketer at night?"
"Give us money." Zane said.
"How?"
"You are the merchant. Give it." Xavier pressed.
"I am a merchant not a treasure chest. I am barely able to cover my expenses here."
"But you said you sold many pills." Zane argued.
"Yes." Tesla replied. "But in Vaelreth. Not in Eldros. My money is with my clan there. I am trying to make my business here."
Xavier clenched his jaw.
"You lying shit."
Xavier dashed towards the merchant but Zane held him back.
"Let it be, Xavier. He is telling the truth. And if he is lying then it’s his money. He can do whatever he wants with it which also includes refusing to help us."
"I genuinely don’t have it. Believe me."
Xavier clicked his tongue.
He stepped back and Zane also arrived behind the table.
He looked at Jammy and the janitor was already looking at him.
Zane remembered Jammy was responsible for taking rents and giving them to the Aristocrats.
He might have some money.
Zane opened his mouth to ask for it but then...
"I have it."
A feminine voice chimed in.
Everyone looked there but Zane didn’t.
He knew the voice.
He recognized it.
All eyes lit up seeing the girl who volunteered.
Xavier clapped for her even.
But Zane, he slowly turned his head and looked at Hena.
Everyone waited for Zane’s confirmation as Hena stared at the gutterborn with her stone face.
But by Zane’s next words...
"I don’t want your money."
Hena’s blank face vanished.
