Chapter 384: Space Tower
Chapter 384: Space Tower
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye since Li Wei obtained the Goddess’s Tears.
Word of what happened in Storm City eventually got out, and rumors were spreading like wildfire.
But none of this concerned Li Wei.
Aside from the deceased Grand Priest Olgart, no one knew he possessed the Goddess’s Tears.
The Light Divine Sect searched everywhere for the fallen Four-winged Angel, but they found no clues.
Without asking a Divine Spirit, they had no way of knowing who the Four-winged Angel had chosen as its vessel.
This was a secret of the Holy Spirit.
The only thing the Light Divine Sect could be certain of was that whoever could serve as the Four-winged Angel’s vessel would undoubtedly be powerful.
They could only search for powerful individuals within the Divine Hall of Light who had recently fallen or disappeared.
Naturally, Olgart was one of the targets.
As the Grand Archbishop of Storm City, Lancelot was in charge of the search for Olgart.
He had suspected Li Wei, but he never imagined that Li Wei could have killed Olgart.
After all, Li Wei was just a Tier Four Great Mage. There was no way he could be a match for Olgart, let alone kill him.
Lancelot suspected the Legendary Witch Lich was responsible.
The problem was, when Olgart was hunting the person who stole the Goddess’s Tears, the Legendary Witch Lich had been fighting Lancelot. It couldn’t possibly have been distracted to deal with Olgart.
Since he had ruled out the correct answer from the start, Lancelot would have a hard time connecting the dots to Li Wei anytime soon, even if he found the place where Olgart fell.
This bought Li Wei some peaceful time.
For the past half-month, Li Wei had remained in the Celestial Realm to focus on his Cultivation.
In his spare time, he studied Space Magic and Space Magic Arrays.
He needed to master this knowledge if he wanted to open the Secret Realm at Dragon Fall Slope.
Unfortunately, while the Elemental Tower did contain related Magic Knowledge, it was all too rudimentary to be of any help in his current situation.
’If only I could go study at the Space Tower.’
It was a fanciful thought.
One day, after finishing his daily Cultivation, Li Wei was on his way back to his room when he ran into someone he knew.
"Li Wei," Eiris greeted.
Li Wei turned at the sound of his name and saw Eiris.
"Eiris, long time no see."
Eiris smiled and asked, "How did that Poison Dragon Cave mission go?"
"I saw that you completed the mission. Did you run into any danger?"
Li Wei said, "It went smoothly enough. A few close calls, but nothing serious."
"That’s good. According to the rules, a mission as difficult as the Poison Dragon Cave shouldn’t have been given to you," Eiris said.
Li Wei chuckled and said, "Then I suppose I should thank you."
Eiris shook her head and said, "There’s no need for thanks. I’m just glad you’re all right."
"Oh, by the way, there’s an exchange tournament coming up. Do you want to participate?" Eiris said.
Li Wei was a bit surprised. "An exchange tournament?" he asked.
Eiris said, "There’s an exchange tournament between the Top Level Mage Towers every year. This year, it’s being held at the Space Tower. If you want to participate, you should register soon so you can go to the Space Tower with everyone."
Li Wei felt a jolt of pleasant surprise. He hadn’t expected his wish to come true.
It was the perfect opportunity, arriving just when he needed it most.
Although going to the Space Tower didn’t guarantee he’d learn the Magic he wanted, it was a much better chance than staying at the Elemental Tower.
Li Wei nodded and said, "I’m in. How do I register?"
Eiris said, "Just go find an Elder at the All Things House later to register."
Li Wei scratched his head and said, "That’s strange. How come I haven’t heard anything about this?"
Eiris glanced at him. "How long has it been since you last visited the All Things House?"
Li Wei paused. "Uh, just that one time when I went to collect my reward."
"Then it’d be weirder if you did," Eiris said, rolling her eyes.
Li Wei felt a flush of embarrassment.
The All Things House wasn’t just a place to accept missions; it was also a hub for information.
Basically, any news within the Elemental Tower would show up at the All Things House almost immediately.
It was just that Li Wei rarely paid attention to outside events, which was why he was out of the loop.
Li Wei bid farewell to Eiris and hurried over to the All Things House to find an Elder and register.
"Hello, Elder. I’d like to register for the exchange tournament," Li Wei said.
"Oh? Let me see your Magic Badge," the Elder said.
Li Wei handed his Magic Badge to the Elder.
After checking some information, the Elder looked up at Li Wei and said, "You only just advanced to Tier Four not long ago. With your strength, you’ll almost certainly be eliminated in the first round of the exchange tournament."
"Most of the Mages in the tournament are veteran Tier Four Great Mages. There are even Tier Five Great Mages, and in the past, a Tier Six Great Mage once participated. Are you sure you want to join?" the Elder asked.
Li Wei nodded. "Yes, I want to participate."
The Elder nodded and returned the Magic Badge to Li Wei.
"Alright, I’ll sign you up. It’s not a bad idea to go and broaden your horizons," the Elder said.
After registering, Li Wei glanced at the information about the exchange tournament on the wall as he left the All Things House.
Only then did he realize that registration wasn’t open to just anyone.
Students from the Purple Level Class could register freely.
Students from other Magic Classes had to pass a strict assessment just to qualify for registration.
And that was just to qualify for registration, not even guaranteeing a spot in the tournament.
The exchange tournament was divided into two levels: the Young Mage Exchange Tournament and the Great Mage Exchange Tournament.
As a Tier Four Mage, Li Wei would naturally participate in the Great Mage Exchange Tournament.
He had no choice.
The Young Mage Exchange Tournament was for Mages who were Tier Three or below.
Three days later, Li Wei followed the group heading to the Space Tower.
Using the Ten Thousand Miles Teleportation Array within the Elemental Tower, they traveled to the Space Tower on the other side of the world.
「The Endless Sea.」
Year-round, Level 18 gales raged across the surface of the sea.
Rainstorms and tsunamis never ceased.
The Space Tower stood tall over the Endless Sea. Yet, the patch of ocean directly beneath it remained perfectly calm, without a single wave.
Outside, storms raged with thunder and lightning, and monstrous tsunamis reached for the sky.
It was as if they were two completely separate worlds.
Li Wei appeared on the Space Tower’s Teleportation Plaza.
He steadied himself the moment he landed.
Several people around him were staggering, and not far away, someone was bent over, retching.
Thanks to the Extraordinary Traits of the High-Level Flame Lord, Li Wei’s physique far surpassed that of an ordinary Mage, even in his normal state.
Furthermore, he had used Super Long-Distance Teleportation Arrays many times before, so he was already quite accustomed to the effects.
Li Wei looked up and around. The sky above was bright.
In the distance, dark clouds gathered, lightning flashed, and the wind and rain were relentless.
It was too far to see clearly, but Li Wei could tell that the ocean beneath the Space Tower was black.
Black water meant a deep abyss.
This meant the ocean beneath the Space Tower was astonishingly deep.
Before coming, Li Wei had learned that the Space Tower was built to suppress a forbidden zone known as the Sea Abyss.
Legend said it was a forbidden land left behind after the destruction of the Mermaid Empire ten thousand years ago.
It was haunted by the evil Naga Race.
