Chapter 582 Headshot
Chapter 582 Headshot
As the night deepened, the entire dormitory building fell into complete slumber, with the lights in the corridors flickering on and off.
The door to dormitory room number 13 was tightly closed, and the room was pitch black. Suppressed roars and muffled biting sounds seeped intermittently from the cracks in the door.
During the day, Derek and Hidetoshi Kuroki, who had been infected with severe corpse poison, had their bodies completely tainted by the pale green mist that had seeped into their flesh and mind.
The two had completely mutated, transforming into bloodthirsty and ferocious zombies.
In the dimly lit dormitory, two stiff figures relentlessly gnawed and tore at each other's bodies.
Hideto Kuroki was physically weak to begin with, and after several rounds of fighting, he completely lost the strength to resist and was pinned to the ground by Derek.
The next second, Derek leaned down and bit down on Kuroki Hideto's neck.
The sharp, short scream abruptly stopped, and soon, only the muffled sound of chewing remained in the room.
An hour later, only a skeleton and tattered clothing remained on the ground.
After having eaten his fill, Derek stiffly stood up from the ground and paced back and forth in the cramped dormitory room.
Human thought, memory, and common sense have all vanished. He unconsciously paces back and forth by the bed, the table, and the corner of the wall, occasionally reaching out to pry open the tightly closed door, but he can't remember how to open it at all.
........................
The next morning, before it was fully light.
Lin Feng woke up very early, and when he opened his eyes, Nikolai, who was on the upper bunk opposite him, was still fast asleep.
He tiptoed down from the upper bunk, dressed in the dark, and then went to Vassim's bedside and patted him on the shoulder.
Wasim opened his eyes quickly, his gaze clear, clearly already awake, but he remained lying still.
The two exchanged a glance, neither of them spoke, and each put on their coats, grabbed their toiletries, and went out the door.
The faucet in the bathroom made a creaking sound when it was turned on. Lin Feng quickly turned down the water flow, and the two stood side by side brushing their teeth, their faces expressionless in the mirror.
On his way back to the dormitory, Lin Feng saw Ji Lifeng from dormitory 14 standing in front of room 13.
He seemed to hear something inside, tilted his head and listened for a while, then raised his hand and gently knocked on the door twice.
no respond.
He waited a few more seconds, frowned, reached out and grasped the doorknob, tentatively pressing it down.
The door wasn't locked, and it creaked open a crack.
The next second, a gray and stiff figure suddenly squeezed out from the crack in the door, moving with incredible speed and carrying a strong stench of decay, heading straight for Jili Feng at the door.
Before Gilly could react, she managed to squeeze out a short scream as the zombie Derek's teeth were already embedded in the side of her neck.
Tearing and biting.
Blood gushed out instantly, flowing down her fair neck and shoulders, staining her pajamas red.
After Gilly's body went completely limp, the zombie Derek lifted his head from Gilly's neck, his turbid eyes slowly turning to the other side of the corridor—where Lin Feng and Vassim were standing.
The next second, he moved.
Its stiff legs took a step, but the speed was astonishing. Covered in blood and stench, it charged straight at the two of them, a low, muffled roar escaping its throat.
Wasim stepped forward and blocked Lin Feng's path.
He raised his right hand slightly, and a silver-gray six-shot revolver appeared out of thin air in his palm.
Funeral song!
Wasim raised his hand, aimed, and pulled the trigger in one fluid motion, without the slightest hesitation.
"boom--"
Gunshots rang out in the narrow corridor. The bullet pierced precisely between the eyebrows of the zombie Derek, exiting from the back of his head with a spray of grayish-black fluid.
The zombie Derek abruptly stopped, his body frozen in place like a puppet with its strings cut.
He opened his mouth, let out a very faint and short breath, and then fell straight backward, hitting the ground with a dull thud.
The corridor fell completely silent.
Only the blood seeping from Ji Lifeng's neck was still slowly seeping into the cracks between the floor tiles.
Soon, six staff members wearing white protective suits filed in from the stairwell.
Their faces were covered by masks, so their expressions couldn't be seen. They quickly stuffed the bodies of Derek and Gillyn, as well as a nearly gnawed skeleton on the floor of dormitory 13, into body bags, sealed them, and carried them out of the basement one by one on stretchers.
No one spoke from beginning to end, and no one asked what happened.
It's as if everything is operating according to some predetermined program.
Lin Feng and Wasim stood there, watching the stretcher disappear around the corner of the stairs.
The corridor returned to its empty state, with only a few dark red water stains on the floor serving as a reminder of what had just happened.
A moment later, Vassim withdrew the Funeral Song from his hand, and the gun disappeared silently from his palm.
He turned his head to look at Lin Feng and said in a low voice, "Let's go."
Lin Feng nodded.
When the two pushed open the door and returned to dormitory number 17, Nikolai was already sitting on the edge of the lower bunk.
He was already dressed and wearing shoes, but his eyes were dark and bluish, as if he hadn't slept all night. The whites of his eyes were a cloudy yellow, like leftover tea.
Hearing the door open, he immediately looked up and stared directly at the two of them.
"You're back."
Lin Feng didn't respond, and Vassim didn't speak either, walking straight to the table to put down his toiletries.
Nikolai stood up, took two steps forward, and stopped in the center of the dormitory. His voice was a bit drier than usual:
"Did you hear any strange noises last night?"
No one spoke.
Nikolai's lips twitched, and he took another step forward, getting even closer to Lin Feng:
"What's wrong with you two? You've been acting strange since last night. You're ignoring me when I talk to you, aren't you?"
His speech became faster and faster, and his tone became higher and higher:
"Do you know how scary this is? I've been talking to myself for ages and nobody's paying attention. I felt like I was invisible! Can't you just say what you want to say to each other face to face?"
Lin Feng turned around and grabbed the keys on the table, but Nikolai suddenly reached out and pressed down on Lin Feng's wrist.
"What's wrong with me? Tell me, okay? What did I do wrong? What gives you the right to—"
Lin Feng raised his hand and swung a large bag over, making a crisp, loud "smack".
Nikola's head was knocked to one side, and he froze. He pulled his hand back from Lin Feng's wrist, and half of his face quickly turned red.
He opened his mouth, and a muffled sound came out of his throat.
Lin Feng grabbed the keys, tilted his head slightly, opened the door, and went out.
Nikolai stood there, covering his face with his hands. After a long while, he slowly lowered his hands, silently grabbed his coat, and followed them out...
