191- The Hunt for Outer Being (2)
The first one to get checked was Tatsumi, as expected.“What are we checking again?” Tatsumi asked in a joking manner.
“Signs of corruption. You have assimilated with the remnant dust of the Outer Being. We suspect that you meatbags are corrupted.” Jeliel said while preparing the scanner for corruption detection.
This scanner could scan the entire body and so Jeliel used it on Tatsumi after the preparation was completed.
Slowly, blue lights scanned Tatsumi from the top of his head to the toes of his feet. But Jeliel was surprised to see no signs of corruption.
"What is going on?" Charlene asked while sticking her head out.
“You said we are likely to have signs of corruption, so we agreed on this. Why is it that there is no sign you said?” she said.
Jeliel, Ao Guang and his Slayer Division as well as Tritis and her group, were so surprised.
“We don’t even know about this information because it involves heavy karma.” Tabitha said while shaking her head.
“So that means I am free from corruption sign or whatever it is.” Tatsumi nodded his head at the result.
“No! We need to try again.” Jeliel denied the result the first time since she was so sure that any living beings who came into contact with the remnant of the Outer Being would likely get a corruption sign.
Then Tatsumi was scanned once again but the result was the same. No sign of corruption.
“Check the others then.” Tatsumi frowned but accepted the result. He had a likely hypothesis about why the humans were immune to the effect from the Outer Being’s corruption but he did not say it in case the Outer Being’s powerhouse did not realize what was truly going on.
“Usually after being defeated, the Outer Being would turn into dust to be back at their source before being reborn.” Ao Guang said.
Tatsumi and Dian’s group blinked their eyes. They realized that by assimilating the Outer Being’s remnant, there was no possibility of them ever being reborn, and everyone likely knew about this.
“But if the humans truly assimilated it, then there is possibly no way for the assimilated Outer Being to exist.” Ao Guang said seriously.
Everyone now knew what this meant, especially Tritis. She now understood part of the reason why the human race was destined to face the Outer Being.
“Check the others.” Tatsumi said. He did not want to waste the scanner’s capability on him alone. Furthermore, he was afraid that the perfect assimilation with the Outer Being only happened to him.
Then Ame, Long Wu and Charlene were checked for corruption signs. But the result showed that they were not corrupted.
“This…” Jeliel became confused. In her long years of fighting against the Outer Beings, they were not able to completely eliminate them because the remnants of the Outer Beings returned to their source and then slowly began to be reborn.
“Treat this as the highest secret.” Tritis knew that Yuan and Gorith were already notified of the news here so she ordered this.
[Yuan: I did not expect that you will contact the one who can do this. Is this why you are looking for them, Tritis?]
[Tritis: Looks like my action has not completely escaped your eye. That is not false.]
[Gorith: With this, we must ensure the safety and the promotion of the human race and their Planet Master.]
[Tritis: That is why I am looking for something for them to develop but sadly my divination result becomes blurry the stronger they are.]
Tritis knew that using the Planet Master System would be seen by the Universe Council but they did not know the context of the message so it was still safe, for now.
Dian became thoughtful. He noticed that instead of being corrupted, the humans were all safe.
Dian now realized just how powerful it was to properly assimilate the dust of the Outer Being and NOT be corrupted.
Dian thought while also expressing concern to the four.
“You don’t defeat the Outer Being but it still comes to you. Perhaps it is attracted by the fact that you are human.” Dian said to Charlene.
“Oh, it is probably as you think.” Charlene said to Dian. Dian realized that talking and communicating face to face with his race caused them to see Dian in a new light and new understanding to come.
“It is good that you are fine.” Tatsumi said as he touched her to check on her.
“I am fine just like you.” Charlene patted Tatsumi’s cheek to calm him down.
“That’s good.” Tatsumi nodded and then after making sure that the battle was quick enough, he and the others returned to the interior of the mothership.
Once inside, even the mothership's corruption detection device did not find any sign of corruption from the four humans.
“You can run wild in this area. We are looking for more Outer Beings to test something related to the humans.” Jeliel reported.
“Good. I can also test some things on the battlefield.” Tatsumi nodded. They were on a certain planet with the infestation of the Outer Being at Rank 3 and lower. This was to make sure that the overall balance of the Frontline-59 would not be disturbed.
Then the mothership went a bit north of the planet. Then they found another group of Outer Beings. Each time Tatsumi saw the Outer Being, their forms were slightly different. Now, they looked like a mass of flesh and muscles.
But in the end, Tatsumi used his full Martial Will to eliminate the Outer Being. Then the dust of the Outer Being flew to Tatsumi, assimilated by his body.
“Now that I look at it, I am amazed. What do you think, leader?” one of the Slayer Division commented on the process of assimilating the Outer Being.
Ao Guang nodded in agreement. In all his battle experience, he had never seen this. When he saw this, he was amazed and became fervent in his belief that humans were the race capable of putting an end to the Outer Being.
“They will become the greatest asset we will have. But we need to wait for them to grow.” Ao Guang replied seriously.
As they spoke, the races under the Federation surrounded Tatsumi, Ame, Charlene and Long Wu, they looked at them as if they were saviors.
“When the Outer Being was in front of me, I can feel that my whole body stiffened. Without what you call Martial Will, I don’t think I can fight them. And…” Bore said as he touched the hem of Tatsumi’s cloth and then the mothership sounded an alert.
“Corruption detected!”
Bore’s hand turned into a strange black form. But before it spread, Tatsumi frowned and touched Bore’s hand and then the corruption was absorbed by Tatsumi’s left arm.
“How did you do that?” Charlene asked.
“Will it. They respond to the human’s will, not any race’s.” Tatsumi answered with certainty.
Then the others tried to touch the hem of the four’s clothes and got mild corruption before Ame, Charlene and Long Wu willed it. Then the corruption was absorbed by their extended limbs as if obeying their supreme ruler.
“The corruption…is not what we actually think.” Tritis could be said to be able to draw some conclusions.
Seeing it with her own eyes made her certain that the corruption was a way for the remnant of the Outer Being to not give anyone else the information and to corrupt the information. This information then corrupted the flesh and mind of any living being not designated as human.
“Corruption is not wrong. It is the mechanism in which the Outer Being used to reduce your number and spread it to the entire Universe Field.” Dian shook his head but this information came from Frie.
Before Dian had gone to the frontline, Frie had given him so much knowledge along with Chikara, since it seemed that she liked battle.
One of them was actually about the corruption caused by the Outer Being. Seeing the event unfold, Dian realized that the Outer Being had a link to the human race. Worse, he could glean from Tatsumi’s Karmic Eyes that this connection now was strengthened.
If the Outer Being or other races with a Karmic detection method traced them back to their home planet, it would be disastrous.
“Looks like even the Outer Being hides this fact from us on purpose.” Tritis said before she extended her hand and bowed slightly toward Dian while her hand grabbed on to his.
“So please for yourself and for the rest of the Universe Field, assist us.”
Hearing that Tritis even had a tone of begging in it caused Dian to flinch.
Then Tritis’ group became surprised to see their deity like this. Ao Guang knew that this was inevitable and nodded solemnly while Jeliel coldly watched things on the bridge.
“Uhm, sorry to pop your bubble but I think I am still not suitable for this. I am still too weak and so is my race.” Dian kept saying this. And it was reasonable. When the scale of the battle reached the current size, his entire civilization’s battle was like dust in a large battle.
“I can see your concern. But don’t worry, do you notice?” Tritis then said to Dian. Dian nodded and looked at the four humans he had brought.
They…became stronger in the sense that their overall strength increased, not only their transcendent base ability.
The four were currently discussing this matter, actually.
“Can you feel that your body has become stronger?” Tatsumi asked for confirmation.
“Yes. My body feels like expanding to accommodate more strength and transcendent energy. This is the effect of assimilating with the Outer Being, it seems.” Long Wu said.
“Me too.” Ame said as she closed her eyes and felt the change in her body.
“Looks like the four of us are experiencing the same thing.” Charlene nodded and confirming this was real and tangible.
“This is big. I seem to understand that both that mechanical lifeform and the Slayer Division assumed that the Outer Being will be defeated but not assimilated by us. It seems that what we just did can change things for them. Though I doubt the Outer Being will let this go.” Tatsumi said his opinion.
“Right. Can you do something about this karma?” Ame asked.
“We are linked but not by much so I can conceal it. But from what I can see, there are greater forces who tried to cover the karma we have with the Outer Being. Looks like Her Excellency Tritis and the backer between the mechanical lifeform and the Slayer Division also help with this matter.” Tatsumi blinked and his Karmic Eyes could see a violet thread which connect him between the human race and the Outer Being, which was now being obscured, hard to even connect, but it was still there.
“That means this is a temporary solution. What is the best course of action?” Ame asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? For transcendent like us, become stronger, develop more paths, and go further in the path of transcendence.” Tatsumi said lightly as if this was a done deal before he added, “As for our technology, we need to advance more and discover more things.”
“I see. No wonder the Father God strictly requested this of the scientists and me. It is to advance the technology of the civilization.” Charlene had a sudden realization from what Tatsumi and Ame told her as well as what Dian personally wanted.
“No! To advance, we need the cooperation of the civilians. Educate them properly on the methodology of scientific research as well as self-correction.” Charlene’s red eyes gleamed as she knew the way forward.
“Ah, right. Scientists need to be replenished with fresh blood. Fresh blood means new ideas and potentially resources.” Tatsumi realized the future problem partially. But with this, the problem was almost eliminated.
“Then I need to cultivate some scientists for my family.” Ame also reminded herself about this. Not just any scientist but the young ones who would potentially bring them new things to do and solve the old ones’ problems.
“Come on. Speak of this matter later on. We are technically still on the Frontline, remember?” Long Wu coughed up purposefully to remind them of the objective of them here.
“Sorry, we are carried away. Anyway, we can safely hunt lower realm Outer Being. But we need to quick since they probably already responded to our attack.” Tatsumi placed his hand on the back of his head, feeling slightly apologetic but also shared what he felt about the situation.
“Jeliel, to the next place!” Tritis ordered.
-
For the next forty-eight hours, Dian and his group were participating in dozens of skirmishes and quickly eliminated the weak realm Outer Beings before their remnants assimilated with the four humans and made them stronger.
“I am at the fifth heavenstage of the Revolutionary Realm. Fighting them and learning from their way of using their base power really helped.” Tatsumi introspected himself and found out that his transcendent base had increased by much. Previously, he was at most the third heavenstage of the Revolutionary Realm.
Although it would be hard for him to match a powerhouse at Rank 4 transcendent, but he would be mostly undefeated even if they were at Rank 3. It was just that Tatsumi had been trying to open the second gate but it felt heavier and more dangerous.
“But to make sure I am more powerful, opening the next gate will become crucial.” Tatsumi observed the second point in his body and tried to open it.
The moment he did, he felt that the berserk transcendent energy became like a mighty ocean in a storm, raging and pouring down on him. This was no longer controllable energy but a natural disaster!
But Tatsumi had an idea. Since he could not control it, let it flow to wherever it went. Although the energy channel inside his body was damaged, but Tatsumi wanted to see just how far would the raging energy inside would flow.
Sweat formed on his forehead as his energy was fully flowed from his heart to the rest of his body. The only thing Tatsumi did was to protect vital organs and let the raging energy flow.
The corner of his mouth let out a trickle of blood but his expression was that of calm and collected individual.
The moment the energy completed a cycle, Tatsumi felt that his whole body had undergone a thorough internal tempering, letting out impurities left by his daily activity. Although, the number of foul-smelling impurities hat got out from his body was small, it was exist.
Then he waved his hand and a cleaning spell was activated, letting him feel refreshed and cleaning the impurities.
“Ha.” Tatsumi breathed out and then opened his eyes.
Everyone was looking at him as if he were some rare species at a zoo. Tatsumi then stood up from his previous position and returned to his group without saying anything.
“Are you trying to open the second gate and maintain that state?” Ame asked with a worried look.
“Well, since I can’t control it, then guide it. Apparently, that was done right. Now, just let me test it on the real battle, though.” Tatsumi smiled and reassured her.
“Not control but guide. But it means you have to protect the vital organs, right?” Charlene had noticed that Tatsumi was bleeding internally but he was fine now. She knew that opening the second gate would make the transcendent energy raging throughout the whole body but to be able to guide it properly was actually a breakthrough.
Tatsumi nodded with a helpless smile.
“If I don’t do that, my heart and brain will turn into paste.” Tatsumi said something horrifying so nonchalantly.
Then he shared his newly developed transcendent path for Ether and Undead Element path for the middle stage of the Revolutionary Realm with his group.
Then everyone in the group sat cross-legged and tried to make a breakthrough.
Dian was impressed by the way that his group developed so well just with several dozen encounters with the Outer Beings. Specifically, the four humans, they had the biggest gain and were now even consolidating their current power.
Ao Guang could see some of the things Tatsumi did but as if under a veil, some deeper mysteries were covered from his mental senses.
Jeliel was calculating how much battle prowess Tatsumi had when that raging Ether enveloped his whole body, and he let out some of what the meatbags called impurities.
“That meatbag called Tatsumi, he is actually a peerless Star Child.” Jeliel felt that his personality module was working hard to generate the expression it needed, but these words were the most apt.
Tritis and her group were surprised to see that. Her group was responsible for support, and by that, it meant buffing Tatsumi and his group. The effect was good enough that Tatsumi wanted to reverse-engineer its inner working but that resulted in him making a low-budget version of it.
“He seems peerless even for a transcendent in his rank.” Tabitha said with a slight smile that she did not realize had appeared on her face.
Tritis then looked at her and realized what was going on. But she did not comment on it, letting things go on and could only guide her race. The individual move was ultimately an individual move but Tritis knew that from this point onward, one of the individuals in her race was interested in someone of a lower rank.
