Chapter 1252 - 67: Leaving
Chapter 1252 - 67: Leaving
Furya with a mysterious expression led Bologue through the Void Lump, turning left and right, guiding him to a safety door just as Bologue was about to lose track of the way."Here it is," Furya said, "This is one of the rare, truly safe zones."
After speaking, Furya opened the safety door, revealing a standard staff dormitory to Bologue’s eyes.
Back in her own little nest, Furya visibly relaxed, putting down the heavy supplies, sorting them by category, and then meticulously calculating them in her ledger, as she precisely controlled her daily food intake to last longer.
"May I take a look around?" Bologue asked.
"Feel free," Furya added a reminder, "Don’t open the room at the far end, I haven’t tidied up."
Bologue looked around, finding the space here fairly spacious, seeming to overlap the space of several employee dormitories, with a very peculiar room layout.
Furya had transformed this space into a warehouse-like area, with many rooms filled with cartons, and shelves neatly stocked with various life necessities. Bologue also noticed a room lined with assorted uniforms, allowing one to evade the vigilance of employees through disguise; these varied uniforms served as passes for different areas for Furya.
Besides that, Furya had an exclusive armory, stocked with the standard weapons of the Order Bureau and some Alchemy Armaments, yet her own Ethereal Amount as a First Stage Condenser was limited, and due to the employees’ Undead trait, most Alchemy Armaments were useless to her.
Walking through the corridor, Bologue arrived in a very spacious living room filled with long tables and whiteboards. From the chaotic papers, Bologue saw the rough maps drawn by Furya and the annotations alongside them.
On the living room walls, several whiteboards were pieced together, with each holding maps collected by Furya. She, according to the degree of space distortion, tore and rearranged them into the current rough map of the Ruins District.
The broken maps were marked with different version numbers, as the Ruins District was always distorting and changing, Furya’s maps updated accordingly.
Bologue crossed his arms appreciating all this, realizing Furya’s work exceeded his expectations, even bordering on professional.
If the Inverted World hadn’t influenced Furya’s cognitive abilities, perhaps she would have escaped long ago relying on her own capabilities.
Bologue couldn’t help but doubt Furya’s true identity, knowing those who could embed the Alchemy Matrix ahead of time and intern at the Order Bureau, Bologue first thought of the mysterious founding families.
Besides Palmer, who was extremely high-profile due to bad luck, the members of the founding families had little to no presence within the Order Bureau, yet they were never far from it, always quietly cultivating within this terrifying violent organ.
Bologue took out a secondary target list from his pocket, compared the information on it to the map information, and quickly identified positions of several secondary targets.
As for the main target, the safe passage to the Holy City, it wasn’t documented on Furya’s maps.
The reason is simple; the main target is located within the containment zone, which, before losing control of the Ruins District, was an extremely dangerous place. Now everything is chaotic, those deadly contained objects likely have escaped their bounds.
With Furya’s abilities stepping into the containment zone, it would be akin to courting death. She understood this point, and during years of struggling in the Ruins District, she had nearly mapped out every other zone but had never ventured into the containment zone once.
"Alas."
Bologue sighed helplessly, realizing the hardest problem ultimately relied on himself.
Luckily, Bologue wasn’t leaving empty-handed this time, as Furya had written a dense set of annotations in the corner of her broken map.
"This place is strange, it’s never marked on any map, nor have any staff ever set foot here; it should be some secret building. I tried all the available permissions, yet couldn’t enter."
Bologue took the secondary target list, repeatedly compared map information, and finally confirmed that this should be the secret laboratory he was searching for.
Originally hidden near Forge Furnace Volcano, it became exposed one day due to spatial misalignment and distortion. Fortunately, the security system still operated, keeping everyone out.
"Permission levels."
Bologue mumbled, discovering them on another table.
These were action group badges, some repeated, some different. For many, they merely distinguished action groups, but in reality, they also carried Cultivation Room permissions.
Like museum badge memorabilia, they were displayed here. Bologue picked through them, finding a slightly unfamiliar one.
"Second Group, Blade of Order."
Bologue recognized this badge as belonging to the Blade of Order, decommissioned after the secret war, now extinct within the Order Bureau.
Secretly noting this item, Bologue planned to negotiate with Furya soon, hoping to bring it back and give it to Lebius and Geoffrey.
Apart from action group badges, there were department and various staff work cards, each carrying different permission levels. Judging by the different names and photos on the work cards, these seemed to have been collected by Furya over the years.
She likely hoped to find a high-level permission card, granting her access to most regions of the Ruins District. That is, if she wasn’t detected as suspicious by the staff.
"Do you have any plans next?" Furya’s voice sounded.
She came over from the corridor, holding another canned meat, asking while shoveling a piece of meat into her mouth.
Bologue saw many similar empty cans in the trash bin; she had been eating these stored supplies for years. Imagining the taste, Bologue sympathized with Furya’s plight.
Bologue said, "I am looking for a safety passage, but it’s inside the containment zone, and it seems you don’t have relevant information."
"Containment zone?"
Upon hearing the term, Furya became extremely tense, evidently bearing an indelible impression from the containment zone; she hadn’t ventured there throughout these years.
"You want to go to that ghostly place?" Furya questioned.
"My target is there, but rest assured, I won’t force you to accompany me. Once I’m out, I’ll find a way to get you out," Bologue promised Furya.
"But I need you to help me locate this." Bologue said, pointing at the suspected secret experiment location.
Furya glanced at the location Bologue pointed to and shook her head, "No, it’s impossible. This place requires high permission levels, we can’t access it."
"It’s okay," Bologue said confidently, "I have enough permissions."
Furya hesitated for a moment, then chose to trust Bologue.
Negative Power User, Undead, Action Group Leader—these traits told Furya of Bologue’s professionalism and reliability, especially when survival supplies were dwindling; Furya found herself in a slow death. Apart from trusting the Evil Spirit within sight, she had no other choice.
"Alright, but I need to prepare first."
Furya regained her spirit, "Maybe I’ll seize this chance to escape, or... die."
While speaking, she started preparing necessary items for action and didn’t forget to gobble some canned meat to fill her rumbling stomach.
"I’ve had enough of this ghostly place. If I stay longer... I’ll occasionally have suicidal tendencies."
Furya and Bologue shared a similar plight, but unlike Bologue, Furya wasn’t Undead, she faced the threat of death constantly. Alone.
Furya spoke faster, "This is an opportunity, a chance to change life. I have to leave here. I have to leave here."
It was as if she was spellbound, continually repeating.
"I have to leave here. I have to leave here..."
