Chapter 1185: Luck!
Chapter 1185: Luck!
Jiang Wenhui’s call brought Mu Yan the best news she’d heard all year; when she hung up, she was so excited her tears almost spilled out. They’d never been able to find a suitable heart, so Mu Chen could only wait for death.
Even though the surgery wasn’t guaranteed to succeed, no matter what, she still wanted to give it a try and gamble for a chance at life.
Now she had finally waited for this moment, and she didn’t even know how to thank Jiang Wenhui.
Not long after, Luo Yao came over. Mu Yan handed Mu Chen over to her, then went out herself to meet Jiang Wenhui.
It was already May now; the afternoon sun was a bit glaring, carrying waves of heat.
But Mu Yan seemed not to feel it at all, her steps light, a smile she couldn’t hide on her face.
When she arrived at the café, she easily spotted Jiang Wenhui.
"Wenhui, I’m sorry to keep you waiting," she apologized as soon as she sat down.
Jiang Wenhui smiled. "Not at all. This place is close to my company. It’s only natural I got here early."
"I’m sorry to have made you delay your work because of my business," Mu Yan said apologetically.
Jiang Wenhui chided gently, "We’re all family. What are you being so polite for? See what you’d like to drink."
"No need, I’m fine," Mu Yan said quickly.
Knowing she was anxious, Jiang Wenhui said, "Alright, then I won’t stand on ceremony. This is the patient’s file. Take a look first."
As she spoke, she handed Mu Yan the folder by her hand.
Mu Yan took it and opened it. The first page was the patient’s information, all in English.
Her English had been pretty good back in high school, so she could understand most of it.
This patient had lung cancer, now already at the terminal stage. He also had RH-negative blood.
She looked toward Jiang Wenhui and said gratefully, "Wenhui, thank you."
Jiang Wenhui said, "Don’t thank me yet. This is just the information I got. To be safe, you still need to do the matching. Wait until your brother gets better, then it won’t be too late to thank me."
"No matter what, I’m grateful to you, Wenhui. You’ve given me Hope," Mu Yan said with a smile, her gaze dropping again to the file in her hands.
Jiang Wenhui said, "Give this file to Jing Heng and let him handle the arrangements. He studied abroad for years and now runs all the affairs of the group. His connections are broader than mine. He might even be able to find other suitable donors for the transplant."
"Okay, thank you, Wenhui," Mu Yan said again.
Jiang Wenhui smiled and took a sip of her coffee.
She suddenly asked, "Has Jing Heng been too busy lately? With his capabilities, it shouldn’t be so hard for him to find a suitable heart."
Mu Yan’s eyelids twitched. She looked at Jiang Wenhui. "Wenhui, what do you mean?"
Jiang Wenhui laughed. "Nothing. I just worry that Jing Heng isn’t taking your matter to heart and is only focused on work."
Mu Yan smiled. "He wouldn’t. He’s always taken my affairs very seriously. If it were a common blood type it’d be easier, but RH-negative blood is too rare."
"That’s true. It also comes down to luck. Clearly my luck is better than his."
Mu Yan smiled and didn’t respond.
There were still things waiting for Jiang Wenhui at the company, so she sat for a bit and then left.
Mu Yan, in high spirits, took the file back to the hospital and then told Mu Chen and Luo Yao.
Although nothing was certain yet, compared to the endless waiting without any prospects, having Hope already felt wonderful.
There was no need to mention Luo Yao; she was so happy she cried. Mu Chen, the one at the center of all this, was the calm one instead.
He looked at Mu Yan and said earnestly, "Thank you, Sister."
Mu Yan smiled. "What are you thanking me for? You need to hurry up and get better. Your sister’s still waiting to drink your wedding wine."
Hearing this, Luo Yao’s eyes lit up as she looked at Mu Chen.
Mm, she wanted to be a bride too.
