Chapter 689: You Knew All Along, Didn’t You?

Chapter 689: You Knew All Along, Didn’t You?

"Melody, Melody," Mrs. Quinn hurriedly ran down from upstairs. "Melody, let me explain.""Explain what?" Jared Quinn’s deep voice carried an indescribable danger.

"I... let me explain..." Mrs. Quinn’s face turned pale under Jared’s gaze, but she still couldn’t speak out, so she blamed the earlier incident on Melody Thorne. "It’s... it’s her, she must have heard some nonsense from outside and then wrongly accused me, wanting to report to you."

"Timmy, are you okay?" Hearing the commotion, Timmy immediately ran down from above and looked up at the obviously frightened Melody Thorne.

"Timmy, what just happened downstairs?" Leon Rivers crouched down and asked.

Timmy pointed upstairs. "Melody just went up to find me. I told her that recently Grandma has been secretly making phone calls, then she went up, and a short while later, she ran down. I don’t know why, but I’m sure Melody didn’t do anything wrong."

Melody Thorne’s head rested against Jared Quinn’s chest, where there was a steady pounding. She couldn’t imagine that it was Mrs. Quinn who drugged Jared Quinn that day, and the call she just received was clearly Wendy Lynch threatening her.

"No, it’s not like that, Jared, listen to me," Mrs. Quinn hastily explained. "Those were just calls from the wealthy ladies who like to play mahjong. I’m not making secret calls."

Jared Quinn glanced at Mrs. Quinn and then at the little woman in his arms. She hadn’t said a word since falling down the stairs, seemingly quite shocked.

He bent down and picked up Melody Thorne, carrying her towards the bedroom on the second floor.

"Jared, Jared," Mrs. Quinn exclaimed behind him,

"Auntie Quinn, let them discuss their matters in the room," Leon Rivers seemed to have some understanding of why the person who drugged Jared Quinn had never been found.

He bent down to pick up Timmy. "Come on, show Uncle your latest invention."

"Okay."

In the room, Jared Quinn set Melody Thorne down and was about to go to the window to smoke a cigarette. The metal lighter in his hand just flickered on when he remembered Melody Thorne was there, so he let the cigarette hang from his lips.

"Do you want to ask anything?" Jared Quinn’s eyes were filled with complexity as he looked out the window.

Melody Thorne was silent for a moment, then shook her head, wrapping her arms around Jared Quinn’s waist from behind. "You knew about it long ago, didn’t you?"

Jared Quinn didn’t deny it, turning around and saying softly, "I’m sorry."

After all, Mrs. Quinn was his mother, and he had placed people to watch her to prevent any further actions, wanting to preserve some dignity for her.

"You don’t need to apologize to me," Melody Thorne looked up, her clear, bright eyes filled with sincerity. "She’s your mom, so I understand."

Her understanding and lack of complaints made Jared Quinn feel a bit of heartache. He wrapped his arms around her tightly. "I promise she won’t harm you."

Melody Thorne wouldn’t say that in life, small opportunities are unmissable, and Jared Quinn’s bodyguards couldn’t possibly prevent them.

"Even though I don’t hold a grudge, I think this is harmful to Mrs. Quinn, and she’s your mom too, yet being used by Wendy Lynch like this," Melody Thorne said. "If we pretend not to know, she might keep making mistakes."

Jared Quinn lowered his head, a flash of murderous intent in his eyes. "The issue with Wendy Lynch will be dealt with soon."

"You didn’t understand what I meant," Melody Thorne spoke up. "What I mean is we can have Mrs. Quinn contact Wendy Lynch and then pull out the mastermind behind it."
