After waiting a full two hours, the Octopus-Headed People outside finally ran out of the hospital and scattered elsewhere.Lin Ye didn’t know if any Octopus-Headed People still remained inside the hospital, but he wasn’t planning to keep hiding here.
He had no idea about the time ratio between the Dream World and the real world. His true body was still outside, and if the ratio wasn’t especially skewed, his true body could run into trouble.
Lin Ye opened the door. In the corridor, there was only a single corpse drained of all its contents; the Octopus-Headed Person had long since left this place.
The elevator was still operational, but Lin Ye had no intention of using it.
The emergency stairwell was in the middle of the corridor. Lin Ye went down the stairs, and based on the information leaked online, he formulated a simple action plan.
However, the information online wasn’t accurate, because those Octopus-Headed People could also use phones.
At first, the survivors didn’t know about this piece of information. They posted their hiding spots, hoping someone could come and save them.
But those survivors who revealed their positions didn’t receive rescue; instead, they got Octopus-Headed People who saw their locations.

By then, the survivors realized that the messages from police and military personnel were all fakes made by the Octopus-Headed People.
Those survivors who had already exposed their locations had to find new places to hide, but finding a safe spot wasn’t easy. Many died in the process.
Lin Ye kept his footsteps low, moving as fast as possible downstairs. On the first-floor lobby, some dried-out corpses were scattered around. Outside the Administrative Building, there was a fountain spraying light-red liquid.
This was also why Lin Ye wanted to leave here. The city’s drainage system seemed to be malfunctioning; red puddles had already started appearing on the ground.
Lin Ye didn’t want to come into contact with that red liquid. If he didn’t act before the puddles filled the entire road, he would be trapped inside this five-story building with nothing in it.

So, he had to find a safer place.
Lin Ye ran out of the Administrative Building. The hospital was filled with shriveled corpses and red puddles, but no Octopus-Headed People came out of any buildings.
Just as Lin Ye was about to run out of the hospital, he suddenly noticed several Octopus-Headed People rolling around in the red water on the road outside.
He had planned a general route earlier, but the Administrative Building was far from the exit, and those Octopus-Headed People were blocked by other buildings.
‘Damn it, can’t you go do something useful?’
Lin Ye hid by the side of a building. He couldn’t leave the hospital through the main gate now, or he would definitely attract those Octopus-Headed People’s attention.
“Hey, Doctor Lin?”
Lin Ye heard a deliberately lowered voice. He looked up and saw Old Zhang and a few other drivers.
They were sticking their heads out of a third-floor window, gesturing for Lin Ye to come up quickly.
“I’m leaving this place. You guys coming with me?”
Lin Ye gestured back. He didn’t think they would join him, since they called him ‘Doctor Lin.’
That was probably his advantage—he was the only one who still remembered the information from outside.
This should be a mixed dream centered on Lin Ye and the Octopus. When this Dream World was created, Lin Ye wanted to kill the enemy hiding down below. So if he wanted to end this dream, he would probably have to kill the master of that abandoned area.
However, Lin Ye didn’t understand why these Octopus-Headed People were attacking everyone indiscriminately instead of just killing the enemy pulled into the Dream World.
This was likely related to the system facilities under the abandoned area.
Due to unforeseen factors, Lin Ye also wasn’t sure about the state of that area’s master; the other party might also retain their memories.
Just as Lin Ye expected, those drivers weren’t willing to go out and take risks with him. To prevent Lin Ye from luring the monsters into the hospital, they left the window and closed it.
Lin Ye re-planned his route. Just as he was about to move, Old Zhang ran out of the building.
“Doctor Lin, I’ll go with you.”
Old Zhang said in a low voice.
“You’re not afraid of running into those monsters out there?”
Lin Ye asked, somewhat surprised.
“I am, but you saved my child. Even though he didn’t make it in the end... I want to do something for you.”
Old Zhang looked at Lin Ye seriously.
“Then come with me. I’m getting out of here. First, we’ll go to the police station to get some weapons, then head to the tallest building in the city.”
Lin Ye didn’t know what the master of that area looked like or where to find them, but if he lived longer than everyone else, he could end this dream.
If the other party was also planning to go to the tallest building in the city, then Lin Ye would deal with them there.
“I have a truck parked outside the hospital—it’s my bread and butter. The keys are on me.”
Old Zhang didn’t question Lin Ye’s plan. He was ready to draw the monsters’ attention so Lin Ye could drive away.

And it was one of those expensive motorcycles.

Now the question was, where was Xiao Zheng?
Lin Ye remembered that the guy often arrived right on time for work, but since Monday mornings had a morning meeting, he should have come in early to eat.
‘I remember he used to park his bike in the parking lot...’
Lin Ye tried hard to recall the past. He bent over as he moved out from the corner, scanning the parking lot. Before long, he found Xiao Zheng’s motorcycle.
The motorcycle wasn’t parked in the lot; it was lying on its side by the road. Near the bike, Lin Ye found Xiao Zheng’s shriveled corpse.
‘...This is a bit of a problem.’
The motorcycle was on the road just inside the hospital’s main gate. He had probably just ridden into the hospital when he was attacked by the Octopus-Headed People.
“I’ll go draw those monsters’ attention. You go start the bike, then just drive off! Don’t worry about me!”
Old Zhang didn’t waste words. He jumped up, climbed onto a car, then moved away from Lin Ye, running toward the other side of the hospital.
Those Octopus-Headed People rolling around in the puddles quickly noticed Old Zhang and all charged toward him.
Lin Ye couldn’t stop Old Zhang. Right now, he was just an ordinary person, even a bit weaker than Old Zhang.
